An arts education in a small school, within a major university that has every activity and resource you might want, at the center of one of the world’s most exciting creative capitals—that’s Roski. Arts District next door and all of SoCal’s adventures within reach, you’ll have every opportunity to immerse yourself in the arts and enjoy the environs. Rather, we help students strengthen their creativity, build their confidence and discover their unique voice. Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college-level classes with a final exam that, if passed, may count toward college credit. The art school was created in 1990 to meet the needs of two groups of students.–those who wanted to pursue professional work in the arts and those who wanted to study the arts as a vocation. It also provides students the opportunity to develop their artistic skills under the guidance of dedicated educators.

The Episcopal School of Los Angeles has been rated as one of the Best Art High Schools in the nation. This prestigious institution reportedly offers a great deal to the student body, including top-notch teaching, exceptional facilities, and supportive staff. A palette of whites, deep blues, and gold creates an elegant atmosphere in the formal living room, which was designed by Rachel Duarte. The designer established two seating areas within the space, including a cozy gathering spot with chaise longues that flank the original carved marble fireplace.

The glamorous touches continue in the ensuite bath, where Sabatella added a custom mirror-tiled tub that plays off the vintage French tile floor. The designers worked with a color palette of Dunn-Edwards paints, and several chose to highlight the brand’s 2024 Color of the Year, a steely blue called Skipping Stones. Nods to Pasadena’s famous peacocks can be found throughout the designs, and many creators fearlessly brought in statement floors, enveloped their spaces with jewel tones, and added texture to ceilings. Others focused on bringing the beauty of the estate’s gardens and views inside with verdant murals, floral fabrics, and nature-inspired lighting. Program leaders believe the new building will not only allow students to develop their artistic talents, but it will also help bring them together as a community.

Designer Lara Hovanessian packed plenty of bold design elements into the powder room and adjacent lounge. A moody House of Hackney floral wall covering lines the dressing area, which leads to a powder room accented with a Kelly Wearstler’s Graffito II from Walnut Wallpaper. A black-and-white triangular mosaic tile floor by Artistic Tile from Mission Tile West puts a contemporary twist on the classic checkered pattern.

The entire wardrobe is laden with jackets, knitwear, flared bottoms, shin-length shorts, plaid shirts, heavyweight zip-ups with matching sweatpants, pocket tees and accessories. But the clear standout of the collection are the canary yellow shearling pieces that extend to an oversized jacket, bags and standout $28,000 USD chaps. But even with its American-influenced aesthetic, the collection still channels the calmly sexy sentiments the brand is also known for. Roski’s BA program is a liberal arts degree, ideal for students who want to combine art with a study in a related field — or a completely different one. Though the emphasis remains on a studio practice, the flexibility of the BA allows students to pursue electives, a minor or a second major to develop a diverse academic career. For a more intensive undergraduate arts degree, the BFA in Fine Arts program allows students to immerse themselves fully in the creative process, spending the vast majority of their class time in studio courses developing high levels of proficiency.

The room’s coffered ceilings were enhanced with a faux-wood decorative painting by Jhon Ardilla. Each year, Variety curates a list of the top film school programs across North America. From universities that are as old (or older) than the moving picture itself, to budding programs, the schools on this list collectively offer an impressive array of educators, facilities and lessons to be learned. They have created award-winning films and television series, enacted change both on-screen and behind-the-scenes, and often give back to the institutions that fostered their talent. With Eli Russell Linnetz, the designer consistently refines his appetite for portraying life’s moments and his undying love for California.

Like the name suggests, Eli Russell Linnetz took a more deliberate approach to build his world in California, not just on the design side, but on the production front as well. For example, key shearling pieces came from sheared sheep that roam around the ERL studio alongside shearling waste from local farmers. In tandem with the California-made production, the collection leans into quintessential Americana styles – whether it be through denim or something as simple as plaid boxer shorts. One of the highlights of this project is the building is going to be both an indoor and outdoor classroom for the students. Coursework includes demonstrations, hands-on learning, lectures, and critiques in a chosen Specialization and/or Drawing Studio. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive two college credits for Specializations and one college credit for Drawing Studios.

Student projects are critiqued and reviewed by industry partners in order to provide students with specific, relevant industry feedback. Cozy Stylish Chic Creative Director Jeanne K. Chung and designers Angela Lee and Caroline Meloche brightened the dark wood-paneled library to create a space where residents can unplug. “Our two main goals were to create a space that was comfortable and a little bit updated while also retaining that history and not touching or harming all the really cool features that were innate to the room and came with the house,” Meloche says. Wallpaper was added to the ceiling and the backs of the bookcases, and heavy wood blinds were replaced with soft draperies and Roman shades to make the space feel lighter. The firm used a mix of fabrics and wall coverings by Ralph Lauren Home from Designers Guild throughout the space.

“[We made] sure that it was a really usable room, that it didn’t just look nice,” Hermogeno says. For a bedroom off the nursery, Carmine Sabatella wanted to create a jewel-toned escape. “I thought, if somebody’s taking care of the baby, they have a space where they can come and feel like it’s a retreat,” Sabatella says. The designer outfitted a door handcrafted in India with a vintage mirror to create a one of a kind headboard and bathed the space in deep emerald green.

Designer Stephanie Hatten updated the Gatehouse Kitchen, turning it into an airy English-country-inspired space. An eye-catching natural stone by Walker Zanger was selected for the counters and backsplash, and the space was outfitted with the latest Monogram appliances. Samatha Williams’s Tearoom in the Gatehouse is brimming with vintage charm and elegant accents.

“For the wall mural, I had to pick something to bring them into nature and a calming environment,” Lalikian says. Designer Mark Hermogeno paid tribute to Silver Queen Susanna Bransford Emery-Holmes in the kitchen, butler’s pantry, family room, powder room, and mudroom. “We had thought, What if she actually came back to life and asked us to remodel the space? “We wanted to concentrate on polished nickels and polished chromes to get that silver feel back in,” he says of the fixtures, hardware, and lighting by Kohler and Kallista. Hermogeno and designer Lynette Chin brought in a mix of vintage and new furnishings in the family room, incorporating performance fabrics for durability.

Find The Best Cruise Deals Last Minute Cruises

how to find the best cruise deals

Moreover, a lot of people booking on their own may simply be unaware of special discounts offered to select groups, such as residency discounts, military discounts, and more. In other forms of travel, the public has been conditioned to expect the best prices if you book things on your own to "skip the middle man". In the Caribbean, hurricane season greatly impacts people's desire to book a cruise. This means lower prices for a Caribbean cruise in September or October.

But if you'd prefer to go your own way on finding a deal, do some research on typical rates for the cruise you have in mind, and check back frequently (we mean daily, at least) to see if the fare has dropped. Rule #9: DO book your cruise when you find a rate you like

We pondered everything, so you can feel the love on the cruise vacation of your dreams. If you run across a price drop, then you should contact the cruise line immediately. This is where having put down only a deposit — and not paying in full — buys you some leverage.

Going Going Gone Rates

Although they’re known best for their Caribbean itineraries—good for a quick weekend getaway—Carnival also sails to many other destinations, including Europe, Mexico and Hawaii. On average, the cheapest month to book a cruise usually falls around 63 days before the cruise departure date. For example, if you wanted to take a Caribbean cruise in December, the best month to book would be October. If you’re booking a cruise to Oceania (Australia, South Pacific, New Zealand), book at least 3 months out. If you’re booking a cruise to Hawaii, wait until just 21 days remain until departure. If you can travel on short notice and aren't picky, there are last-minute cruise deals to be had for those that look for them.

So if you had your eye on a certain type of room or location on the ship, it might not be available if booking late. We selected this cruise because it runs weekly, giving us a chance to compare the price of the trip over multiple years and see the trends in the fare. We’ve spent years studying the cruise industry and have come up with our best rules to follow to make sure you’re getting the absolute best rate with as little headache as possible. You'll also find some repositioning cruises every year between the Caribbean and Alaska, and between the West Coast of the U.S. and Asia. One line recently said bookings have been so strong that it would be stopping all last-minute discounts indefinitely.

Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. This bonus value is an estimated valuation calculated by UP after analyzing redemption options, transfer partners, award availability and how much UP would pay to buy these points. Plus — expert strategies to maximize your points & miles by joining our (free) newsletter. However, if you have a bundle of United miles and prefer cruising to flying, it might be a good redemption for you. Unfortunately, United Cruises charges a $24.99 processing fee on every booking.

That may not sound like much to some of you, but that comes about to about 4-6 drinks from the bar if you were to want to spend your money on alcohol instead. Over the past two decades, ships have seemingly transformed from simply seagoing vessels to floating amusement parks. From huge waterslides to promenades, robot bars, roller coasters, ice rinks, and more, it’s hard to believe what they can put on a new ship these days.

Surprisingly, you’ll usually get a better deal when you book your cruise through an OTA (think Cruise.com, Expedia, or United Cruises). When you book through these types of sites you’ll get any deals that are being offered directly by the cruise line plus any extras offered by the OTA. The exception in this example was Cruise.com, which offered a savings of $50 on the price of the cruise. However, some of the extras offered by other sites could be worth more than that, so it’s always a good idea to price your cruise on multiple websites before booking.

Similar to a traditional all inclusive vacation, food and entertainment on board is included in your cruise fare. Most cruise lines also offer a special and affordable drink package for your trip. Different from an all inclusive resort, you wake up at a new port throughout your vacation rather than the same scenery. According to Clabbers, select lines, including Cunard and Princess, offer “extra benefits for certain types of passengers,” including added perks and, in some cases, discounted or free fares.

Surrounded by their favorite characters—led, of course, by Mickey and Minnie—children will love made-for-them activities like the AquaDuck Water Coaster and Nemo’s Reef Splash Zone. All-inclusive cruises tend to be more expensive up front, but the peace of mind that comes from knowing you don’t have to keep a running tab later is well worth the expense. Often, you'll find a better price for four, five, six and eight-night cruises.
